[I've started this post about three times now, and I realize it's nothing new, but it's been on my mind for a while now. Sorry in advance for how disconnected it seems. You can bear with me or bail out now. The choice is up to you ;) ] It was just yesterday that I was sitting criss cross applesauce in the middle of my living room floor, multitasking. Some like to call it ADD. I prefer "multitasking." Music, social networking, reading a book, something on the TV, ticket shopping... all these distractions from what my mind was mulling over and over. A friend and I were walking the other night, just like old times, after the town had gone to sleep, when the stars were bright and the moon was full. The trees were dripping and the sidewalk was sloppy... it was such a reminiscent time of the past four-ish years of our lives that we have spent in this town. I know that when I think of summer nights, I'm going to think of this time of life. When it's war...

Vacay: Georgia

Image
no thanks to American Airlines for delayed flights and lost luggage spending every night on river street in Savannah, getting to know the local color. with these besties. who ever thought that a summer at our bistro would end us all up in GA together? beach time. which we discovered was possible to do without towels. although we wouldn't exactly recommend it. juicy goodness getting our game faces on, and braving [haha] the nonsense cold. we left SD to get warm, GA... where's the love? midnight coffee and five dollar parking. it was worth it, but spendy. Now i am back to reality. which means i have to clean my poor neglected house. and do piles of laundry. and reconnect with my sunday school kids. and try not to spend money for a while.

April things

Image
If there was one thing that stood out to me from all of April, it would be celebrating the resurrection of Christ! What an amazing weekend not only to prep for but also to be able to spend with the body of Christ. I was so, so blessed. Regardless of having an amazing church family , I was just encouraged by all of the songs that we sang/listened to and by the message that was shared. God was glorified! "Who has felt the nails upon his hand? Bearing all the guilt of sinful man God eternal, humbled to the grave, Jesus savior, risen now to reign! "Behold our God, seated on His throne! Come, let us adore Him! Behold our King, nothing can compare! Come let us adore Him!" Sovereign Grace Music . . . April self portrait: for the cause [I like the idea, but I did a lame-sauce job.] shirt for Japan , bracelet for Invisible Children , shoes for TOMS now go get yourself one. or two. And last but not least: my recent addict...

Lessons

Image
learning to trust God with my Life, my Future, my Right Now, sometimes seems like the hardest thing to do But its funny, because once I finally realize that I am not in control anyways (and i never have been), God does amazing things despite me being me Life is not about me. [shocking, i know] so why do I get the feeling that I am living like it is? "Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!" Psalm 115:1

multitasking

I obviously have reading ADD.

[you know the road's deserted when...] On the way back to the NE homestead, I have often wanted to stop and take pictures, because I like the wide open emptiness. Sure, it makes for a long drive all by your lonesome, or with your brother, or your friend. BUT. it's beautiful. [don't hate] This time, I actually wasn't driving at sunset, or in the middle of the night and I wasn't in a rush to get somewhere, so. I stopped. and ran around on the road and took pictures and loved the sunshine. and only saw 1 vehicle. the sky and grass and naked trees along with the worn out road... winner winner, chicken dinner! resolution: to stop alongside the road more often when the opportunity/mood strikes. I have a mental list going along highways 79, 385, and 71. for starters.

it makes me feel helpless...

pictures from here BUT . then I remember who's in control. "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust. To whom will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him? Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in; who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings o...

some stuff

Part one: a day in the life. It's a typical Thursday at work. The boss and I have already gotten our coffee and croissant fix. My partner just got out of bed, taking enough time to smooth down his hair and bless me for the fresh pot of coffee before settling in to write trip reports from his busy, no-sleep night. The oxygen guy has come and gone, his long locks flowing and his music blaring. The UPS man and I have done our usual cheery exchange while juggling boxes and signatures. And, struck with a moment of inspiration, and a mind full of musings, I am at my usual post: in front of Horton (my computer) with both coffee and radio readily accessible. That's when I get interrupted, mid thought process, by the guy with the title of "Dirty Harry." He comes strolling in to the room, his dirty hat perched on top of his dirty hair, one hand shoved in his dirty jeans and the other holding an envelope. His wide, toothless grin and squinting, watery eyes preceding the...
