Jozi flash back: adventures with Mandela

One fine Saturday afternoon, Sarah and I took the Gautrain to Sandton with no particular goal in  mind. Which meant that we got lost in  walked around the massive shopping center for a bit and then ended up on the stairs in the square with coffee and pastries to people watch. It was perfect. The ride home on the train was a whole different adventure and story for another time... or maybe we'll just let that be a "what happens on the Gautrain stays on the Gautrain." Right, Sarah? ;)  I miss summer and sunshine on my bare shoulders. Hurry up, spring! 

Valentimes in the 2012

For as long as I can remember, I have pretty much loved Valentine's Day. I don't know if its the cookies, the tacky paper valentines, the candy, or what. Certainly its been fostered by my parents creatively encouraging us to celebrate each year through heart shaped food and fun little parties. So, minus the year I dressed in all black, this year is no exception in my succession of years of celebration. No busted leg is hindering my consumption of the pick up line hearts! me and Albert celebrating love day What's Valentine's Day without appropriate music? You know how life is not always what you were expecting or planned? Yeah... my life precisely. Hence the phrase, "Life is an adventure." Because, well, it is. You see, I've been skiing for 10+ years and this year was no exception! I had the opportunity to go on an awesome sauce weekend with some work friends to Telluride : friends, fresh powder, skiing, too many slopes to choose from, Colorado goodness - how is this a bad plan ???  Well it wasn't.... until the unexpected happened and I found myself relaxing on the side of the mountain waiting for my Ski Patrol buddies to come rescue me from my broken bone dilemma. The moral of the story is: never assume that it won't happen to you. Also, make sure that you have awesome friends to take care of you when you are on drugs.  (P.S. hospital gowns totally live up to their reputation: hawt.) life is looking a lot like this these days:    I've been living in my sweats and spending a lot of qualit
