ValentiMes: a Rarely Annual Post

Image
This song because of these lyrics:  (referring to love) "I know that it's great, its different It's when you give and give of yourself Until your tank is on empty  Just to be with the one you love. You bleed on the inside  At the thought of losing them. At least that's how I feel. That's how I feel." I got to watch my friends get engaged this morning  (with my boss/friend from back in the day)  in the coffee shop I worked at back in the day.  I shared a table with a crusty old guy who played with and sassed Amos while I took pictures. The store was full of their friends and she had no clue and he was so nervous. And it was perfect.  This morning was just another one of those small-town situations that filled up my love tank and made me happy that I didn't move away eight years ago like I thought I would.  Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovers and you haters!

Valentimes: a belated post.

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” ―  C.S. Lewis ,  The Four Loves film by Clara Williams Photography It seems like there's nobody with passive feelings about Valentine's Day. You either love it or you hate it. I love it. I'm all in. And I have been for all of my born days (ok, MOST of my born days). It has baffled me for a long time why (mostly single) people have such strong negative feelings against it, and it wasn't until I was having a conversation with one of my friends ab...

Valentimes in the 2012

For as long as I can remember, I have pretty much loved Valentine's Day. I don't know if its the cookies, the tacky paper valentines, the candy, or what. Certainly its been fostered by my parents creatively encouraging us to celebrate each year through heart shaped food and fun little parties. So, minus the year I dressed in all black, this year is no exception in my succession of years of celebration. No busted leg is hindering my consumption of the pick up line hearts! me and Albert celebrating love day What's Valentine's Day without appropriate music? Behold: Mat Kearney's Young, Dumb and in Love. Pardon the random movie scenes, but this is the best audio version of the song I could find on YT. Favorite. And my new favorite by Indellible Grace: Oh Love that will  not let me go. Put your paws together. Also, because I promised:  Music Crushes in the 2011: (do you know how stinking hard it is to narrow it down?) Leeland -Lov...

I missed out on posting on Valentines Day because I was driving through Missouri, or something. But I didn't want to let the Valentine's goodness pass unmentioned! So here you go. Better late than never. First off, I got some sweet postcards from Love146 that both supported a worthy cause and gave me an excuse to stick stamps on paper and mail them. (because. I still like snail mail. and real, live books.) AND! I could write all over them with a sharpie. I love sharpies. Sappy alert! [It's true. I am sappy sometimes.] For your viewing pleasure, this part of You've Got Mail. (Which happens to be my favorite chick flick.) "How about coffee or drinks or dinner or a movie... for as long as we both shall live." Favorite line of the movie. For reals. And this Mr. Darcy quote :) from here . and that's all. thanks for stopping by. :)
