October photo challenge: days 11-21

Image
I did a bit more "cheating" for this week of pictures. I prefer to call it "borrowing" from other days. ;)  11. create my sister is really great at creating teachable experiences that are woven into every day moments. 12. night life technically, this was sunrise. but in my mind, same same. 13. musical the baby cousins. also, my focusing skills are lacking. 14. happy day Uncle Jon is the best. 15. cuddle 16. discover 17. the boss good thing he's cute. 18. oops don't worry, I helped her up. 19. special all of my plant babies come from special people in my life and from special times in my life.  20. silliness singing songs during missionary conference brings out the silliness in the adults, as these kids soon discovered. 21. favorite photo this is not a picture of my favorite photo (how would I ever choose?), but it is my favorite photo that I took that day.

No big deal...

...just me and the Hellers . (oh and my brother [with twinner hair] and the niecephews) So much fun! Just her and her husband playing an acoustic set (ok, and that other guy for a couple of songs)  and going back and forth with stories and teasing. I seriously had the biggest freak-out moment ( besides that one time when I was walking all unsuspectingly into the Calvary Bible College dorms and there stood Gracia Burnham ). The broski and I took a quick trip down to catch Sanctus Real and J.J. Heller on their last concert of the Promises Tour .. it was double motivation/bonus to be able to go down and join my B.I.L and his two oldest kids. Did I ever mention that I love live music? It's one of the best things ever. There were 3 other bands that played that night, but I was mostly stoked to see one of my favorite singer/songwriter artists. Those other guys just might show up in a Music Monday post.. but that remains to be seen ;)  ...

Summer [according to my phone]

Image
this summer is already almost over, and I am not sure where all the time went! it's been a beautiful time of warm nights and lake days and hiking and camping and grilled food and work good times and a lot of bonding with the road and various sunrises/sunsets. the brasil brother has been back for almost a year which means that in a month, he heads back with his little family. i can't even say how awesome it's been to know they are accessible to sms or call or see. great times to renew and build on those relationships. here's a little bit of summer according to my phone. ok, so maybe it's a lot bit. bear with me. baby sitting adorable children road trip numba one to KC to visit some graduating peeps suuuushiii!  hanging with the niecephews in the sand hills [and their rooster]   lots of quality time on the road full moon, plus the ambulance. good times the broski's graduated and we had reunions lake, lake, lake in...

Supermoon

Image
on the same day that my brothers graduated from Bible school and we partied like it was 1991, there was a lovely full moon. (maybe i should say same night?) I guess the technical name for it would be "supermoon." anyways, this was one of those nights that I was annoyed at myself for not having anything more than a point and shoot camera...meh, beggars can't be choosers.  You should click here to see some pretty awesome pictures of the supermoon taken with legit cameras. these following pictures are my feeble attempts at capturing the moon on that cloudy/rainy night in Hot Town.  moonlight is one of my favorite, favorite things. when i was a kid, sometimes I would get woken up by the moon shining in my window and across my bed. Hot Town is no big city with big city lights, but it's night sky can't compare to the out-in-the-country-small-town-Nebraska big sky, million stars, brilliant moonlight sky of my childhood. #goodolddays.

it's been over a month since the lovely, memorable, infamous weekend where I busted my leg. (birthday? what birthday? this is not the year I turned 23, it's the year that I broke my leg. when people as me how old I am I have to sit there and think about it, which fact I blame entirely on the drugs I was taking at the time.) since then I have been blessed by a plethora of friends and family and sometimes strangers who have gone out of their way or convenience to help out this poor little cripple. I have also discovered that breaking your leg is like joining a brotherhood of others who have broken their legs and walking with a crutch is an open invitation for total strangers to swap stories and such. amusing, let me tell you. I forgot about the bigness of the sky and ferociousness of the wind out here on the prairie. winter is not giving us much as far as snow goes, but as far as winter skies and naked tree branches -my soul has been satisfied.  and ...
