It's true. I am not twelve years old. I do not have children. I love my job. I am single. [Which does not mean that I'm available]. And I am satisfied with this position in life. All seven of my siblings are from the same mother and father. And I love the bigness of us. I went to a Bible school for three years and did not graduate with a degree in anything. I am more likely to buy something if it is green. And that may be the only reason. dogs make me sneeze No, I do not have a twin. Yes, I look like my siblings. And my mother, so they say. I am going to Brazil in December. I spent four years of my life in Cote D'voire, West Africa. And the rest of it in Nebraska. Which I do not regret in the least bit. I am the only girl in my family with pierced ears. Yes, I am small (ok, skinny). Yes, my feet are narrow. All of my work clothes are too big for me. Shirts. Pants. Coats. [but the boots fit just right] Being small can be just as hard as being big. Don't discrimina...

priceless

this time (when we are "twenty something") these people (young and old alike, long-time friends and new acquaintances) this love (as brothers and sisters in Christ -a bond that is hard to explain sometimes, but oh so precious) these experiences (cooking, laughing, crying, exploring, ministering, praying, living) this place (nestled in the Black Hills... i am definitely not complaining about location) these opportunities (there is something exhilarating about a world unexplored and people not known and experiences not had; about LIFE that is waiting to be lived) this mind of Christ: "...complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the fo...

sometimes life is Funny

Image
it's funny sometimes how God puts you where you never wanted to be. and in this place of being Uncomfortable and possibly Uncertain, Life is Good. really.

[and this is why i love my job so much]

Image
because who wouldn't love sitting by the river in the sunshine? ...and being attacked by vicious dogs? ...and reading good books? (fierce hunter) ...and nap time in the shade? Well, wouldn't YOU love your job too?

on waiting

I've been learning about trust lately. I mean, all of life has been about learning to trust in one form or another... ... but right now, trust is kind of a theme... Right now, trust means letting go. Trust means, giving up my desires and wishes. Trust means simply waiting. And this is hard. I don't like to have to wait, when it seems like I could/should be doing something. I don't like to give up my desires and wishes when I think that they are not such bad things. I don't want to let go of this thing. But this is what God has for me now. And so I am learning to rest. And be patient. And while I wait, I am learning to serve God, pursue Christ, love others. Because I know that God is sovereign and that He has a plan. He has proven His goodness to me over and over again. How silly of me to forget so soon. Once again, Psalm 33 comes to mind. (I'm stuck on this chapter) I would love to put the whole thing down, because it's good and applicable. But I'll just sha...

on nights like tonight, when the sky is so big and so dark, and the road is so deserted, i feel VERY very small. Like a tiny speck of yellow on a giant black wall . I drive above the speed limit and disregard the lines and neglect the blinker [but at least I wear my seat belt]

sittin' waitin' wishin'

a little bit of somethin' somethin'

Sometimes I feel like when I blog, it's a little like times when I journal. There's a lot going on upstairs, but I'm not really sure how to put it down, or what to put down. So I start somewhere and about ten pages later... there's a whole lot of randomness that doesn't make much sense, but I sure feel better. Ok, so maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but you get the idea. So here we go... I was listening to a random talk show a few weeks back on my way home from work and they were discussing social networking, and how it is affecting our society. I know you have all heard the rants about the pro's and cons of it all, in fact my fabulous sister is willing and able to give you a piece of her mind on this matter. Just ask her :) ( http://lifeissofullofanumberofthings.blogspot.com/2009/02/facebook-friends.html ) But something they said that has kind of stuck with me is that with all of this networking, whether its blogging or Facebooking, or Twittering, or w...

i don't believe in blogging without posting pictures... (which i failed last time i posted) so here's a recap of choir tour in picture form (as opposed to another long schpeal) read and laugh (as opposed to weeping)

across the universe (or maybe it was just a few states)

i got to travel the country (well, parts of it) i learned things about God i learned things about people i learned things about myself ... i traveled through: Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, DC, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Kansas, and South Dakota (I may have forgotten one or two places) ... i was reminded of God's faithfulness and goodness. excerpts from Psalm 9 say: "I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High... For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; you have blotted out their name forever and ever... But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness. The LORD is a str...
