Little did she know...

Last weekend I was eating amazing Indian food (which I didn't take a picture of because I was too busy stuffing my face) and this lovely gyro from the Jerusalem Cafe. It was a weekend of reconnecting with friends, eating amazing food, and laughing a lot. Tonight i got home late from class and was starving because I had not had time to eat before class, so I threw a grilled cheese sammich on the stove ... and promptly forgot about it.  Reasons I should not be left a lone to cook when I am tired #321.  Because I was too lazy to make another one, I decided to eat the slab of charcoal on my third-hand teddy bear plate, while trying not to wake up my roommate with the exhaust fan (that or my laughing-at-self chuckle). Welcome back to reality, Liz You can just chalk this up to the list of reasons you are having a mid-twenties life crisis and call it a night. i have been trying for the past hour or so to upload pictures to post for the final day(s) of DOT, buuuut, google says i have exceeded my picture storage. and that i have to buy more. not actually acceptable. a little annoyed. grrr. until i solve this problem, here's one of my new fav Mumford and Sons songs: Hopeless Wanderer. "Hold me fast, 'cause I'm a hopeless wanderer. And I will learn to love the skies I'm under."

getting complimented on my driving from little old men who just asked if I had a driver's license. being asked by a little boy in the gas station if i am a secret agent. beating Folgers lovers to the coffee pot. when the floor nurses remember my name sans name tag. wearing horrible red trucker hats all day and getting strange looks from EVERYONE. finding out about the doctor's secret love life. getting a discount at Wendy's because of the uniform. dying laughing over the radio while trying to talk to dispatch.  just laughing at the stupidest things, period. knowing all the words to Taylor Swift's "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together.". strategically hitting the breaks when my partner is walking in the back.  knowing i made a difference.

You know how life is not always what you were expecting or planned? Yeah... my life precisely. Hence the phrase, "Life is an adventure." Because, well, it is. You see, I've been skiing for 10+ years and this year was no exception! I had the opportunity to go on an awesome sauce weekend with some work friends to Telluride : friends, fresh powder, skiing, too many slopes to choose from, Colorado goodness - how is this a bad plan ???  Well it wasn't.... until the unexpected happened and I found myself relaxing on the side of the mountain waiting for my Ski Patrol buddies to come rescue me from my broken bone dilemma. The moral of the story is: never assume that it won't happen to you. What is it exactly that goes on in the office at random hours of the day?  wonder no longer checking out SA's most eligible bachelors Q and A time School planz.... in the which we pretend we are organized teachers. ha. harassing Martha hahahaha i MEAN. encouraging her and building her up ;)  Next top models, right here.  But really, 90 some "dresses" made out of pillow cases???? A little bit of an excessive donation....  we may or may not have gotten yelled at for laughing too loud. ;) 

I was reminded, in the middle of distractions, to be still.  to do more than sit in physical stillness, but to be mentally and emotionally still . to not engage the temporary, not to embrace the imaginary, not to satisfy the narcissism. but to quiet my judgments, my infatuations, my frustrations, my adorations, and "know that I AM GOD." a God who deserves so much more than i can give.  a God who KNOWS ME . all of my insecurities, my pride, my desires, my thoughts, my lies, my failures to serve and give and love. yet he loves me anyways . "blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing..."
