the benefits of having my job. location location location.



tradition: biking adventure with The Don. This year we avoided the herds of bison, which was consequently a little less exciting. 


to do: attend the Miss South Dakota Pageant. shoot. it's held in my very own town. like 5 blocks away from my house. and i even got in free. win win. 

weekend festivals and parades. it's not about the lameness of the event, but the AWESOME people you get to spend it with! seriously. i have the best friends. i'm sorry for the rest of you out there who lucked out. 

i may or may not have filled up a punch card at my new fav. coffee place within a week and a half. 
it was worth every last drop.

live music. i am addicted. no lie. 

sometimes sunsets here can rival those from my Homeland. sometimes. 

new hair. like the beib. which was not exactly intentional, but happens to be highly entertaining.
Man in Brasil to my interpreter: "she has hair like Justin Beiber." yeah. can't even escape it in another country.

lovely lake time. as often as my schedule allows.


I can't believe it's almost August.

Oh, this makes me miss Hot Springs! Today I was thinking about The Hills and wishing I was there and then this made me miss it more. SD, I need to come see you (and you too, Liz!)

I just realized I haven't had grilled asparagus this summer and now I am unhappy...summer is going by too fast and pretty soon it will be gone, gone, gone...

Holy smokes, it's been a year already! You know what they say, time flies when you're having fun! ;) Since I didn't really blog at all about the Best Day Ever that happened last year, I thought I would steal a Q&A idea from some of my favorite photographers . Five Minute Friday: After

It's the week After Easter... Resurrection Sunday... celebration of New Life and Power over Death.  Last week was good.  I had some good reads last week: Love to the Uttermost , The Jesus Storybook Bible , Galatians , John , The Story of Hope .  I listened to a Resurrection playlist that was over 8 hours long so I don't think that I ever made it all the way through.  I had encouraging time with my church family here as we celebrated the Truth of the Gospel. And now, the Week After, I am feeling a little ...overwhelmed? let down?   Because After Easter I have only 3 weeks left of class.  And After Easter I only have one week left with my Moving Friends.  And After Easter I only have a month left with Friends who are here for school.  And After Easter life seems so.... well. anti climactic?  Which is all ridiculous because the whole beautiful thing about the week after the Resurrection is purpose and hope  Before it was me the hopeless and helpless los

You know how life is not always what you were expecting or planned? Yeah... my life precisely. Hence the phrase, "Life is an adventure." Because, well, it is. You see, I've been skiing for 10+ years and this year was no exception! I had the opportunity to go on an awesome sauce weekend with some work friends to Telluride : friends, fresh powder, skiing, too many slopes to choose from, Colorado goodness - how is this a bad plan ???  Well it wasn't.... until the unexpected happened and I found myself relaxing on the side of the mountain waiting for my Ski Patrol buddies to come rescue me from my broken bone dilemma. The moral of the story is: never assume that it won't happen to you. Also, make sure that you have awesome friends to take care of you when you are on drugs.  (P.S. hospital gowns totally live up to their reputation: hawt.) life is looking a lot like this these days:    I've been living in my sweats and spending a lot of qualit
